Getting Started
- Create or sign in to your online account from the Play portal.
- Create an adventurer and choose a class, source form and colours.
- Every new character begins in Runeweld.
- Talk to townspeople, inspect nearby services and learn the first local objectives before travelling far.
- Use the Quest Journal when you need to review objectives you have already discovered.
Your account can hold multiple adventure logs. Character deletion is permanent and is intentionally separated from the normal Play action.
Controls
On desktop, movement supports the arrow keys, WASD and the numeric keypad. The game also provides keyboard actions for confirm/interact, menu and back/cancel. Current screens show their relevant key hints in the interface rather than requiring you to memorise every command.
On touch phones, the game provides dedicated movement/action controls and larger menu targets. Major overlays include touch-friendly Close or Back actions.
Combat
Combat is command-based. Choose an action, inspect spell or ability details, select a valid target where required and resolve the round. The Battle Log keeps the full encounter history available if messages move faster than you can read them.
Pay attention to enemy status, party HP/MP, buffs and debuffs. Later battles are designed around more than repeating the basic attack command.
Equipment & Inventory
Equipment changes combat stats and may have additional effects. Ordinary carried items use the main inventory and expandable bag capacity. Quest Items and Key Items are separated so critical progression objects do not fill normal carrying space.
Use the Character screen to inspect party members, equipment, inventory, upgrades and companion information.
Magic & Abilities
Abilities show player-facing descriptions including their purpose, target and MP cost. Some spells are battle-only, some can be used in the field, and some—such as travel, recovery or support magic—have rules outside combat.
Bard maintained songs can persist across field and combat situations where appropriate and can affect active pets. Active Effects displays current maintained buffs without forcing long text into the permanent party rail.
Quests & Journal
The Quest Journal records discovered objectives and world progress. It is deliberately designed to guide you without revealing undiscovered solutions. If an objective feels unclear, re-read the known steps and speak again with relevant NPCs.
Pets & Companions
SOE's companion system is a full progression system rather than a cosmetic follower. Beast Command allows eligible monsters to be captured in battle; capture success improves as the target is weakened and depends on both your Agility and the monster's resistance. Beast Command ranks raise the level of monster you can bind.
Only the companion you actively deploy joins your battles. Participating pets earn their own XP after victories, receive catch-up XP when behind their owner, and cannot out-level the character who owns them. Species determine stat growth, combat traits and native spells. A newly captured pet can also very rarely receive an additional non-native ability.
From the companion interface you can deploy or return a pet, rename it, inspect its abilities and release it. Fallen companions remain in your roster but must be revived before they can deploy again.
Runeweld Housing
Housing is a separate long-term system. Eligible properties can be purchased in Runeweld, upgraded and personalised. Housing supports interior furnishings, dedicated furnishing storage, exterior garden decoration, household residents and selected companion placement.
Furnishing
Housing furnishings use their own storage rather than normal adventuring inventory. Interior Decorate lets the homeowner choose stored pieces, place them on eligible floor space and rotate or remove them while protected access routes remain usable.
Residents
Homeowners can add and name residents, choose an appearance and facing, place them in allowed interior or exterior locations and select supported behaviour such as static or roaming. Placement is managed from the relevant housing interface rather than requiring you to stand at the destination and physically see both inside and outside at once.
Exterior gardens
Exterior Decorate is limited to the property's editable garden area. Entrances, gates, required paths, service objects and public Runeweld remain protected from blocking decorations.
Multiplayer
SOE uses persistent online accounts and characters. Online systems include presence, chat, party play, trading and shared world state. Some encounters and systems are controlled by the server so all participating players see the same result.
Beta Bug Reporting
Use the in-game report tool first
A useful bug report says what you were doing, what happened, what you expected, whether it happens every time and the shortest steps you know that reproduce it. The in-game tool can attach live game context that a Discord message cannot.
